Defected Voices Of House Music Playlist January... ^HOT^

One of the most instantly recognisable voices of the last 25 years, Kathy Brown's hits are up there in the house music hall of fame, 'Strings Of Life' with Soul Central and 'Turn Me Out' with Praxis being all-time classic tracks. Kathy has a long and prolific history with Defected, who first released 'You Give Good Love' in 2002. This jumping new mix from DnA Studios appears on the upcoming 'Glitterbox - Love Injection' album compiled by Simon Dunmore. Fulfilling Glitterbox's ethos for celebrating timeless musical moments, the compilation includes respectful nods to the golden-era voices like Kathy's, this disco standard being one of the clear highlights.

Defected Records is a British independent record label specialising in house music recordings, compilation albums, events, publishing, artist booking and management. One of the longest running independent labels of its kind, Defected has paved the way for house music in the UK and remained a well-respected constant in the music industry for over 20 years.

Celebrating 20 years of the label and "everything there is to love about house music", Defected kicked off 2019 with a series of special events and announcements. On Friday, 4 January 2019, BBC Radio 1 broadcast the year's first Essential Mix, a special Influences Essential Mix by Simon Dunmore that provided, in Dunmore's own words, "an insight into the music I love and that continues to influence everything we aspire to achieve at Defected Records, as we celebrate 20 years in the house!".[6]

In 2017, Defected released CamelPhat & Elderbrook's "Cola", which earned worldwide success and was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 2018 Grammy Awards[9] and Ivor Novello Awards,[10] and went platinum in the UK and multiple international territories, an unprecedented success for an independent house music label in the UK.

In September 2019, the label released Endor's "Pump It Up!", Brighton producer Dan Hardingham's debut track with Defected. This track would reach No. 1 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart and would also reach number 8 on the UK Singles Chart with 18 weeks spent within the Official Charts Company's Top 75.[11] Nowadays, Defected is considered for many as the most notable house music label in the UK.[12]

The day the US house sound dropped, I knew this is where I wanted to be. The sounds of house music took me to a different level. The love of the riff, the driving bass lines and the drums and breaks, wow this was the moment I felt the euphoria of music.

If you've ever used Spotify, you'll know that typing 'new music' into the search bar will yield a selection of curated mainstream newness from the likes of Lady Gaga, Ella Eyre, Jake Bugg and Stormzy, (and New Music Friday UK (opens in new tab) is always a good playlist shout here) but what if you're looking for something a bit different? That's where we come in. Why not lend your and ear to a few of these slightly more niche curated playlists? It'll make a change from the hi-res files stored on your laptop, whatever's on the Astell & Kern, the playlist someone shared with you at the start of the first lockdown or the CDs you retrieved from your car glove box, at any rate...

There's a time and a place for house music, and that time is right now, in your house. Defected Records is a British independent record label specialising in deep house music and recordings, founded in 1998 and based in London. This playlist does exactly what it says on the tin, with over 25 hours of head-nodding tracks from the likes of FISHER, Gorgon City, Ferreck Dawn and Jack Back.

It's like the ultimate new rap music label. Spotify describes this playlist as "the official voice of generation next". If you're looking for a soundtrack for your next virtual house party, Most Necessary gets it done. With one eye on the next huge hit-single and another on capturing a snapshot of the current vernacular, you'll rarely hear a track that misses the mark. Expect new offerings from CJ, DaBaby, Lil Tecca, BRS Kash (pictured) and Toosii, for starters.

Expect heavier electronica, house and trance offerings from Richard Fearless or V interspersed with expansive soundscapes from Darkstar, Nautic or Axel Boman, alongside the occasional grime track from Novelist. It'll easily double as your running playlist too, if you're pushing your time.

Vito is one of the prolific house music producers of this magical era. As a DJ, he dominated dancefloors across the globe, including his residency at Pacha in Ibiza, where he really came into his own as the master of his own sound for Defected.

Babak, when she defected from the Soviet Union in 1973, had one of the great voices of our time. It has lost some of its ease and power in the past few years, and her singing was uneven throughout the evening, but there were moments of glory. 041b061a72
