In 1971, he released his first solo album, D, which was a mixture of acoustic guitar, flute, sitar, synthesizer, and tape effects. The album was inspired by his spiritual journey in India and his encounter with the mystic Osho. He followed this album with Aum in 1972, which was more experimental and electronic. He used various instruments, such as organ, harmonium, zither, percussion, and vocals, to create a cosmic sound that reflected his interest in Eastern philosophy and meditation.

In the mid-1970s, Deuter moved to Pune, India, where he became a disciple of Osho and adopted the name Chaitanya Hari Deuter. He composed music for Osho's meditation techniques, such as Dynamic Meditation, Kundalini Meditation, Nataraj Meditation, Nadabrahma Meditation, Mandala Meditation, and Whirling Meditation. These albums were released by New Earth Records and became popular among the followers of Osho and the New Age movement.

He released albums such as Celebration (1976), Haleakala (1978), Land of Enchantment (1978), and Ecstasy (1979), which featured elements of folk, jazz, classical, and world music. He also experimented with new instruments and technologies, such as synthesizers, keyboards, electric guitar, saxophone, flute, and drum machines.
