“Southern Rock” poem/lyrics in progress

“American flag and

Southern Rock

Beer and vodka.

Minnesota Math.

The Sins of a whore girl

Where the money come from?

The street & the guitar.

Men in my hair.

Frequent visitors.

Propositions and cigarettes.

I stand on my own.

I stand on my own.

The boys in the yard.

The elevator. The elevator.

Subsidized Housing.

Post-homelessness.

White cat in the hall.

come to call.

I got my chair.

I’m a queen!

Silent sadness.

with my pet rat.

Will I ever get out of here?

Virgin Mary on the window sill.

What am I doing now?

Southern Rock.

Southern Rock.

America.”
